The patchwork image made using patchwork appliqué is familiar with that of the Aubusson tapestries of the mid 1950s e.g. by Jean Picard and those of Artelier Andraud
To date the embroidered signature ' le lalisier ' is yet to be identified unless we have misread it. Rather than a finished work it might be that of a maquette or cartoon. If it were a copy it will call into question why the piece was so carefully signed.
